If your windows need replacing, you know it. The evidence is undeniable — they’re drafty, frost builds up on the inside pane, moisture collects between the panes, they won’t open, or they won’t stay closed. The series of Photos at left show just a few examples of windows that are in dire need of replacement.
What may not be quite as obvious is that replacing worn-out windows is easier than ever for the DIYer. That’s thanks to the proliferation of replacement kits available from nearly every major window manufacturer in the market. To understand why replacement kits are so DIY-friendly, it helps to understand the basic structure of a window and how a replacement kit works within that structure. |
