Issue
#300 - April 2007
You can’t beat a pickup for hauling home improvement supplies.
But sometimes you need extra capacity to haul a ladder or a bundle
of long boards. Contractors carry long items on ladder racks that
elevate the load above the truck cab. But those racks, frankly, are
overkill for even the most ardent do-it-yourselfer.
The rack we designed borrows ideas from those commercial racks but
is built with the do-it-yourselfer in mind. For starters, the rack
is built with everyday tools and materials, and it |
goes together in a
weekend for less than $100. Plus, it simply clamps on when you need
it and breaks down for compact storage when you don’t.
With this rack, we also kept in mind that you don’t use your
truck just for work. So we’ve made this rack just as capable
of hauling all the “tools” you use for play. |
